Climbers

Climbers is one of the groups of the Joint Sunday Club for St Andrew's and St Peter's young people which meets in the Parish Room below St Andrew's Church during the 10.30 service every Sunday, with the exception of Family Services. Family Services are held on the second Sunday of every month with the exception of Mothering Sunday, which is always a Family Service (and this may not necessarily be on the second Sunday).

Climbers is for children aged 3 – 7 years of age. There are 4 adult leaders (3 from St Andrew’s and 1 from St Peter’s). Their names are given below. We enjoy a lively programme aimed at showing God’s love for each of us. We sing songs, play games, listen or act out Bible stories and do craft and activity work, enabling the children to learn how the Bible is relevant to their lives today. For most of the time all the children are together but they are divided into age groups towards the end for the activity session.

The session starts when the children arrive from the St Andrew's service, which is normally about 10.50 (the children are with their parents or carers for the first 20 minutes of the service at St Andrew's or St Peter's). St Peter’s children are accompanied either by the St Peter's leader or, in her absence, a Sunday Service steward. The end of the session is timed to coincide with the end of the St Andrew’s service and children are collected direct from the Parish Room.

The children may be asked to take part in Family Services in either of the churches. The Crib Service on Christmas Eve is the responsibility of Climbers and it is usual for the Sunday sessions immediately before Christmas to be used exclusively to rehearse this service.

If you would like your child to join Climbers please come to the 10.30am Sunday Service at either church. The Vicar or Minister will announce the time for the children to go to their respective Sunday Clubs. Feel free to accompany your child if you feel they need you to be present.

The Sunday groups for older children are Trailblazers (age 7 to 11) and Pathfinders (11 to 16 yrs)
